Hotel la Mariposa offers comfortable affordable accommodation with prices starting from 39 euros per room per night (all room prices are currently reduced, see below), superb mouth watering Spanish and English menu available in the hotels restaurant (we offer many vegetarian options and are always pleased to offer vegan meals and pride ourselves in sourcing as much Gluten free food as possible HOWEVER please let us know when booking rooms or meals if you have any special dietary requirements i.e. vegetarian, vegan or gluten free). 
All room prices include taxes and breakfast which is buffet continental and consists of a choice of toasted breads, yoghurt's, choice of jams,honey, chocolate spreads, marmalade, pate, juice, choice of cereals, seasonal fruit, choice of teas, choice of coffees. 
If you require items cooked for breakfast please inform us the night before (a supplement is charged) 
We have a Wonderful restaurant terrace and gardens with swimming pool, hot spa (Seasonal) and free WiFi. Set in a walkers / climbers and mountain bikers paradise, maps available to guests for self guiding we also have quality Mountain bikes for hire, we try to be very helpful and flexible to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Welcoming you to the Mariposa are Mark and Sam, along with their two children, Tom (Hotel restaurant and bar manager) and Daughter Cady. 
 
Situated around a central courtyard, all the rooms are en-suite and have central heating, tea and coffee making facilities, ceiling fans and some rooms have airconditioning. 
Rooms are cleaned at our guests request, please ask at breakfast time if you wish your room to be cleaned and or fresh towels. 
 
The courtyard is the ideal place to enjoy that cool drink, or a delicious meal prepared by Sam in the fully equipped kitchens. 
 
THE RESTAURANT. 
The restaurant is open from 8am to 10am for buffet continental breakfast to residents, a 4 course menu del dia (9€) is available at Lunchtimes (1pm til 3pm) The restaurant and bar is closed from 4pm til 7pm everyday. 
A full a la carte menu is available in the evenings (We start serving at 7pm and finish serving at 9pm)  
A 4 course menu de noche (18€) is also available in the evenings.. 
 
WE ADVISE CUSTOMERS TO PRE-BOOK AS WE GET VERY BUSY. 
 
The restaurant is closed from 10am on Wednesdays only. 
 
The mini bus is available for groups of 6 to 8 people if they are eating a full meal at La Mariposa, Minimum spend must be 15€ per person. 
 
A fully stocked bar nestles in the corner of the dining room together with comfortable sofas and free WiFi. Also here is satellite t.v so you can catch up on the news, but really this is an area you will want to be out and exploring. 
 
The adventurous among you can use the maps and explore the park on foot, mountain bike ( we have bikes for hire) or even by car, with many places to visit. See the "ice houses", "dinosaur footprint" and the now disused isolation hospital. An experienced guide is available for your walking trips to quieter areas of the park. 
From the terrace the protected area of "Barranco de Gebas" can be seen and most of the year the lake (Algeseras) can also be seen from our terrace this area is also known as the "Badlands". 
 
Our activity centre offers guided quad bike tours, kayaking, parascending, guided walks, 4x4 trips and much more. 
 
THE LAW IN SPAIN,,, By law you have to bring photo ID to book into any legal hotel, campsite, or rental property in mainland Europe, THIS IS A GUARDIA CIVIL REQUIREMENT!!! 
 
 
 
Ideally situated on the edge of the Sierra Espuna Regional Park, this small intimate hotel offers you the opportunity to stay in a tranquil and stunning area. 
 
HISTORY 
At the foot of the hills of the nature reserve -one of the Spanish Regional nature reserve Parks-, in the village of Gebas, we found the remains of an old coaching house/ farmstead. 
 
Casa del Estanco (House of tobacco) was originally also a sales outlet for tobacco and groceries which were supplied by traders staying at the coaching house whilst travelling from caravaca de la cruz to Cartagena and back, traders would bring fish and tobacco from Cartagena and rice and vegetables from Caravaca, payment to the coaching house would be through a bartering system and no money would change hands. 
Now the coaching house has been converted into a Rural hotel. (Hospederia) 
 
 
The protected area of "Barranco de Gebas" is nearby, and is known as the "Badlands". A warm welcome awaits everyone visiting the Mariposa, whether its popping in for a coffee, the delicious menu of the day, or an extended relaxing stay. The hotel is situated in Gebas, on the C3315, which is the Main Alhama de Murcia to Mula road. 
 
The hotel is also on the Caminos de la vera cruz which is a pilgrimage walking route. 
 
Los Caminos de la Vera Cruz are paths that guide the pilgrim to the Holy City of Caravaca de la Cruz for non-motorized means to experience the tradition of the pilgrimage on foot getting the model of the Camino de Santiago. These routes are seven trails linking Caravaca de la Cruz with the four cardinal points of the Region of Murcia (Altiplano, Campo de Cartagena, Mazarrón, Aguilas and the Northwest region), Granada, Alicante (the Vega Baja del Segura) and Albacete (Letur). 
 
The routes are designed to have passed along ancient drove roads, roads full of meaning historical heritage, green ways, roads and trails Also, the roads are marked and allow use of the network of hotels and lodgings in the Region of Murcia including La Mariposa.

With less than 7 days then the whole amount of the bookings is payable.  
We do not offer refunds under any circumstances but do offer credit vouchers.

Alhama de Murcia is a large town just off the E15 A7 motorway at the foothills of the Sierra Espuña, from the centre of the town follow the signs for Mula/Pliego, as you enter the village of Gebas the hotel is the 1st building that you come to on the right hand side.
